A corridor of carved doorways

Series: Among the Temples of Angkor · Digital

Inside a Khmer temple at Angkor, a line of stone doorways runs deeper and deeper in, each one framed by the one before. The walls closest to us are dark, and further in warm light spills across the floor. Over the second doorway, a carved lintel shows a row of seated figures, and the frames are edged with fine plant patterns. A heap of fallen blocks lies to one side, and the last opening glows at the end of the passage.
