A scooter heads for the North Gate of Angkor Thom, the walled royal city at the heart of the Angkor Archaeological Park in Cambodia. Three sandstone towers with calm, smiling faces rise above the arch, and old walls darkened by time run off into the forest on either side. On the left, a huge tree spreads its roots over the bank, and wooden posts line the road. Afternoon sun warms the stone and the yellow-green leaves under a clear sky.
