A Buddha under a golden parasol at Banteay Kdei

Series: Among the Temples of Angkor · Digital

A dark stone Buddha sits cross-legged on a ledge inside Banteay Kdei at Angkor, draped in an embroidered golden sash and shaded by a fringed golden parasol on a red pole. Offerings all around: vases of yellow and white flowers, gilded paper decorations, a small bowl of pink blossoms and a bottle of water. In front, a carved urn full of incense sticks. Behind, square pillars and doorways lead into the dim stone hall, with daylight coming in from the side.
