Long lines of Atlantic surf roll onto the wide beach at Nazaré, drawing white curves along the shore. Two tiny figures walk side by side on the golden sand, the only people in all that space. The long lens flattens the view, so the waves seem to stack up one behind another all the way to the horizon. Blue-grey ocean and warm sand split the picture almost diagonally.
