White volcanic cliff at Alogomandra
Series: Under the Greek Sun · Digital
Alogomandra beach on Milos: a wall of pale volcanic rock curls over a small cove like a wave that has frozen. Its rough, porous surface is bright in full sun, and the hollow underneath sits in soft shade. Close to the shore the shallow water is golden with sand, then turns clear turquoise, and a thin line of foam runs along the foot of the rock. You can see every texture in the stone against a cloudless blue sky.
