Bougainvillea courtyard below a bell tower

A dense cloud of red, pink and orange bougainvillea crowns a whitewashed courtyard on Paros. Behind it, a small white bell tower with a cross stands against a deep blue sky. Terracotta pots with succulents and shrubs line a raised platform, and two pale green doors are set into the walls, one with a little wreath above it. Red petals have fallen on the steps and the white-jointed paving. In the strong sun the white walls look warm and the shadows are hard.
