Two hikers cross an untouched snowfield near Davos, leaving a thin line of footprints behind them. The slope drops gently into a deep valley, and beyond it a long chain of snowy peaks and rocky ridges runs right across the picture. The sky is soft and a little hazy. On film the snow turns into gentle whites and greys, and the two figures, low on the right, are the only fixed point in all that space.
