The Fälensee lies at the bottom of a narrow valley in the Alpstein, its calm green water just visible between dark firs in the foreground. On both sides, steep limestone walls rise into jagged ridges still streaked with snow, with fresh grass on the lower slopes. The valley leads up to a snowy saddle under a pale blue sky with a single cloud.
