On the clifftop in Miraflores, a palm leans in from the left and reaches out over the Pacific. Below, scrub with small pink flowers runs down the slope to the water, where a white line of surf breaks near the shore. Across the bay, the coast curves out to a broad brown headland with low buildings at its foot. Haze over the ocean blurs the line between water and sky.
