The Aescher inn tucked under a cliff

Series: Analog Alps: Swiss Landscapes · Film

The Aescher inn in Appenzell is tucked under a huge overhanging cliff, its wooden front with red shutters almost touching the rock. A narrow path with a railing leads past hikers to a terrace with white umbrellas. To the left, beyond a wooded slope, there's a line of peaks still streaked with snow, with tall clouds above them. The house looks tiny under that wall of stone, and it sits right on the edge of the drop.
