The long curve of the Aletsch Glacier

Series: Analog Alps: Swiss Landscapes · Film

The Aletsch Glacier in Valais sweeps down its valley in a wide curve, with long dark stripes of moraine running along the ice. A dark pyramid of a peak rises on the left, bare rocky slopes close in on the right, and snowy summits stand at the far end of the glacier. A few white clouds in a deep blue sky. From up here you get a sense of how big this river of ice is, and how big the Alps are.
